Why Use a Hay Preservative?
Protect forage quality and reduce spoilage
By applying a preservative, you can bale at higher moisture, extending your baling window. When putting hay up at a higher moisture, you can maintain nutrient content by inhibiting microbial growth and minimize leaf shatter, which is where many nutrients reside, while increasing the total amount of harvestable dry matter. Preservatives can also help hay retain its color.
Uses buffered propionic acid and citric acid to preserve hay by acting as a powerful fungicide and acidifier, inhibiting the growth of mold, yeast, and bacteria that causes spoilage, heating, and dry matter loss in high moisture hay.
Uses sodium bisulfite and sodium potassium sulfite to preserve hay by acting as a powerful antimicrobial agent by creating an oxygen-scavenging environment that inhibits the growth of mold, yeast, and bacteria that causes spoilage, heating, and dry matter loss in high moisture hay.
Uses potassium sorbate and sodium benzoate to preserve hay by inhibiting the growth of mold, yeast, and bacteria, by acting as a potent antifungal and antibacterial agent, which prevents spoilage, heating, and dry matter loss in high moisture hay.
